XYZ Cartesian Coordinates

XYZ Cartesian Coordinates
The target is precisely defined using the XYZ Cartesian coordinate system, in a geometric relationship between the patient and the structure of the Stereoadapter.
For repositioning the patient, a laser alignment system is used in which the lines are positioned parallel o the sagittal, coronal and axial planes defined by the XYZ coordinates.
When using the Stereoadapter, coordinate determination can be done manually or by direct measurement from scanner console or workstation.

Mounting The Stereoadapter
The Stereoadapter is a lightweight and comfortable frame that is quickly and easily mounted on the patient's head by means of two earplugs and a nose bridge support.
To achieve maximum accuracy and confidence with the Stereoadapter the user should repeat the mounting procedure several times to become familiar with all the features of the frame. This will also result in greater patient comfort.
With the patient is a sitting position, the Stereoadapter is mounted by inserting the ear plugs in the ear canal and symmetrically lowering the nasion arms until the nasion support rests on the bridge of the nose. The nasion screw is then tightened to secure the ear plugs in place.
The stereoadapter side arms are then symmetrically pressed to the scalp on each side of the head and locked into position on the connector plate. The vertex stabilizer is then positioned and secured into place.
The strapping band is then tightly fastened against the occiput to further stabilze the frame. Check for movement of the frame and adjust as required until all movement disappears. Record all mounting settings from the scales on the Stereadapter.
Patient Immobilization
In relation to the structure of the stereoadapter, brain targets are precisely defined by X, Y, Z, coordinates. The stereoadapter is compatible with all imaging modalities; CT, MRI, PET ANGIOGRAPHIC and X-RAY, allowing consistent scanning alignment with no artifacts appearing.
